Terms & Conditions

The rules for using this site, and — more importantly — exactly where our responsibility ends and an independent contractor's begins.

Last updated:

The short version

We introduce you to an independent, licensed contractor. We do not do the work, we are not a party to whatever you agree with them, and we cannot guarantee their workmanship, their price or their timing. The information we publish is sourced and dated, but rates, rebates and permit rules change — check anything you are about to rely on. Using this site means you accept the terms below.

1. Accepting these terms

By using DuctlessFix.com, or by calling the telephone number published on it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site or the number. These terms apply to the website and to the referral service reached through it.

2. What DuctlessFix is — and is not

DuctlessFix.com is an independent referral service for ductless mini-split and heat pump work. We are NOT a licensed HVAC contractor. We do not install, repair, service or inspect equipment, we do not employ the contractors we refer you to, we do not supervise or control their work, and we are not a party to any agreement you reach with them.

We are also not a directory you browse and not a marketplace where companies bid against each other. When you call, your request is routed to one independent contractor who serves your area.

3. How we are paid

The contractor who receives your call pays us a referral fee for the connection. You are never charged for calling, for being connected, or for getting a quote, and you are never obliged to hire the contractor you are connected with. The full model is published rather than buried. How we make money →

4. Your agreement is with the contractor

Any quote, scope of work, schedule, price, warranty, guarantee or contract is agreed directly between you and the contractor. Their licensing, insurance, availability, pricing and terms are set solely by them and can change without notice to us. We do not set, review or approve their prices, and nothing on this site is an offer of service or a quotation.

You remain responsible for your own due diligence before hiring anyone — including the contractor we introduce. Verify the licence, verify the insurance, get the scope in writing, and confirm who is pulling the permit. We publish a checklist for exactly this purpose and we encourage you to use it on us as much as on them.

5. No warranty on contractor work

We do not warrant, guarantee or insure the work of any contractor, the quality of their materials, their conduct, their timeliness, or the outcome of any job. Any remedy for defective work lies with the contractor who performed it, under whatever warranty they gave you.

6. The information we publish

We publish climate data, utility rates, rebate and incentive amounts, permit information and general guidance. Every sourced number on this site carries the source it came from and the date it was verified, and we do not publish a number we cannot attribute. That is a deliberately high standard, and it is still not a guarantee: utility tariffs, rebate programmes, tax credits and municipal permit rules change, sometimes with little notice, and a figure can be correct on its verification date and out of date by the time you read it.

Treat everything here as general information, not as engineering, financial, tax or legal advice, and confirm anything you are about to rely on with the utility, the programme administrator or the authority concerned. Equipment sizing, load calculations and system design must come from a qualified contractor who has seen your home.

7. Calls and the phone line

Calls to the number published here are routed to an independent contractor through a third-party call-routing provider. By calling, you consent to that routing and to being contacted by the contractor about your request. Your telephone carrier's ordinary charges apply. What we do with call information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

This site has no form, no quote tool, no online scheduling and no payment mechanism, and we will never ask you for payment or card details over the phone. If anyone claiming to be DuctlessFix does, it is not us — please tell us.

8. Acceptable use

Please do not use this site or the phone line to break the law, to harass anyone, to misrepresent who you are, to scrape or bulk-download the site, to interfere with its operation or security, or to solicit business from us or from the contractors in our network. We may decline to route a call or to provide the service at our discretion.

9. Intellectual property and third-party names

The text, layout, code, graphics and compiled data on this site belong to us or to our licensors, and may not be reproduced or redistributed without permission. Ordinary quotation with attribution and a link is fine.

Manufacturer, utility, government-programme and other third-party names and trademarks referred to on this site remain the property of their owners, and are used only to identify the equipment, tariff or programme in question. Their use is not a claim of affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement in either direction.

10. Links to other sites

We link to utilities, government pages, standards bodies and programme administrators so you can check our sources yourself. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their privacy practices.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The site and the referral service are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the phone line will always be answered.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profit, data or goodwill, arising out of your use of this site or of any contractor introduced through it. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes, and the updated terms apply to use of the site from that date. If a change is material we will say so here plainly.
